The Gardening Club

The Gardening Club resided within the vaulted basements underneath the Rock Garden in the heart of Covent Garden. Initially and for a long time the Rock Garden was one venue incorporating both the restaurant and club. Those were the days that saw U2 play their first London gig on the Rock Garden stage, along with acts such as The Police and The Sex Pistols but it soon became apparent that the venue would work much better if it were to split into two separate parts.

The ground level and first floor, complete with its Al Fresco terrace became the Rock Garden restaurant and the 1,000 people capacity club that snaked around the vaulted basement below it, became The Gardening Club.

In 2009 when the Gardening Club closed it featured some of London’s leading club nights, many of which had been at the forefront of London’s clubbing scene for some time. From the famous student club night, Flirt, that had been running for over 10 years, to our female friendly Friday night, Fuzion, The Gardening Club was a firm favourite with London clubbers & party-goers. Saturday night’s Brown Sugar was The Gardening Club’s flagship night and was the perfect club night for any party or celebration, going right through to the early hours!!
